Edward Lee, Class of 1996
CURRENT LOCATION:Berkeley, CA
EDUCATION:
I'll (finally) get my B.A. in Applied Math (Actuary Sciences) in 2005. I will also have a minor in Celtic Studies (I'm realizing a high school dream).
SINCE 1996:
After graduating from Saugus, I began my education at UC Berkeley in the Fall of '97 with the intent of studying Computer Science. But what I realized quickly was that Computer Science was not at all what I thought it was, and it was much tougher than I could handle. So in '98, I got kicked out for academic probation. In '99, I made the rash decision to join... the US Air Force! Yes, I was in the military and I can't say I had the best of times, but it certainly taught me a great many things about life. For those of you who knew me in high school (and if you're reading this, you're probably one of them), I'm sorry for being such a ... well, you fill in the expletive. Needless to say, I've changed as a person and now I have a whole new outlook on life.
Honorably discharged in 2002 (yes, I was in service during 9/11), I went to Pierce College for 2 semesters (got a 4.0 both semesters!) and then re-applied to Berkeley in the summer of 2003. I got back in.
From the time I left for the military and now, I've lost contact with everyone I knew in Saugus. This was mainly due to my own doing because I wanted to join the military having severed everything to do with pre-Berkeley. Well, I'm back at Berkeley. I've made new friends, though I can't say I have the same attachment to them as I did with my gang in Saugus. My GPA at Berkeley is now a 2.967 and I fully intend on graduating with a 3.0+ GPA.
I hope everyone else is doing great. There are many times when I wonder what some of you are doing, how successful you have become, how much you may have changed since last we talked/met.
