Jasson Edward Bonner, Class of 1993
UPDATE:I am currently entering my second year of training in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at the University of Louisville, in Louisville, KY. Between 1993 and now, numerous opportunities presented that took me all over the country and to parts of the world. For three years after high school, I remained in Valencia with no particular idea of what I wanted to do. In April of 1996, I entered active duty service as a medic in the US Air Force. After nine months of training in Texas and Alabama, I went to Andrews AFB, MD, and worked in the VIP Medical Unit that provided medical services to US Presidential, Congressional, Ambassadorial personnel, as well as foreign dignitaries and high-profile patients (e.g., bombing victims from the 1998 US embassy bombings in Africa). While at Andrews AFB, I worked on my undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland. On September 15, 1999, I was honorably separated from active duty service and decided to pursue upper level credits in psychology (people never cease to amaze me.). I relocated to Portland, Maine, in August of 2000, and was married the next month (September 30) to my wife, Krista, who I met while in the service. Krista is a R.N., BSN, who specializes in neonatology. She is currently working in the NICU at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, and will be returning to school this fall for her MSN and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner License. In the fall of 2000, I resumed full time undergraduate studies at the University of Southern Maine in the Department of Psychology. I graduated in May of 2002, (Magna Cum Laude) and prepared to apply to graduate school. During the winter of 2002/2003, I applied to schools around the country; I was offered positions at the University of North Texas, Wake Forest University, and the University of Louisville. My wife and I relocated in the summer of 2003 and I began work in my research lab under the guidance of Dr. Barbara Stetson, studying numerous aspects of clinical health psychology. My training consists of three core areas: academics, research, and clinical supervision where I am assigned to clinical teams to see patients and apply various theoretical perspectives. We are waiting on having children until my internship year, so that both Krista and I can finish our graduate degrees. We do have a fairly new addition to our household: a 7-month old German Shepherd mix named "Rook". My family still lives in Valencia - father and mother are retired, brother is with the Los Angeles Fire Department and lives in Valencia, and sister is getting ready to pursue her Master's in Exercise Physiology. Thanks for reading this long paragraph.
