Samantha Jones Alarbid, Class of 1989
CURRENT LOCATION:
FAMILY LIFE:
I am currently remarried to a very wonderful man for the past 2 years. I
have a 10 year old son who is one of the major joys in my life. One regret I
have is not writing down the things he has said to me over the years. I could
write a book on that! My husband and I would like to have children in the
future to add to the one we already have. I also have one dog named Scooby
and he brings laughs and fun to the family..
EDUCATION:
After attending one year of trade school at Watterson College I
received a diploma to be a legal secretary.
EMPLOYMENT:
I am currently a legal assistant for a downtown Dallas law firm and do workers
compensation law and have been working in that area for the past 5 years. I think
after doing different areas of law, workers comp seems to be the one I like the
best. I think eventually I would like to become self-employed and work out of
my home. I have an idea, just need to work on it but it has NOTHING to do with the
legal field. Or maybe just be a stay-at-home mom one day once my
husband finishes his education.
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS:
One of my major interests these days is Islam. I met my husband, who is from
Jordan, and wanted to learn about his religion so I would not offend him. During
that learning stage I realized that my heart had found a true love. I didnt even
know I was missing it. In February 2004 I took my shahada and became Muslim. I do
all I can to learn the true way of Islam and if anyone has any questions I answer
them as best I can. Therefore, I attend classes at the local mosque and read
as much information as I can. My hope is to be able to learn Arabic completely
and to possibly live in Jordan since my husband owns a home there. I have
traveled there twice and highly recommend those who have not traveled overseas
to get out of America and see the world beyond our walls. It was an eye opener
for me! Very profound.
