Tom Greenwood, Class of 1988
CURRENT LOCATION:
FAMILY LIFE:
I married Ruth Yamamoto on June 23, 2001. All of my friends told me it
was about time I got married. We just bought our first home which is one block
from Bakersfield College (12 minutes walking distance door to door).
EDUCATION:
I got my M.S. in Mathematics from Northern Arizona University in
1994, my B.A. in Economics/Mathematics from UC Santa Barbara in 1992 and
my A.A. from Moorpark College in 1990. (Some of you might remember that I went
there mainly because COC had no cross country team.)
EMPLOYMENT:
Mathematics Professor and currently Department Chair at Bakersfield College teaching
lower division mathematics courses ranging from algebra to calculus. In May 2001, I received the
Samuel W. McCall Teacher of the Year Award. The award is voted on by the students of
Bakersfield College.
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS:
Golf is my main game now (even though I consider myself a "hack"). I have retired
from playing basketball after spraining my ankle and slightly tearing my ligaments (OUCH!).
I'm running off and on, my stride has slowed considerably, by I still like the challenge
of running up a big hill.
