General Scholarship Opportunities  

Fourth Annual Tomorrow25 Competition
Bentley is proud to be sponsoring its fourth annual Tomorrow25 competition, a leadership program designed to honor 25 high-achieving students who are already making things happen in their schools, communities, and beyond- and appear to be well on their way to becoming tomorrow’s leaders of business and society.

Awards: 25 winners, group advertisement in TIME magazine, all-expense-paid trip for winner and parents to the 2008 Bentley Leadership Forum, a symposium presented in cooperation with TIME magazine that features prominent leaders from all over the world

Spring 2008 Young Scholar Program
This spring, Cal State Dominguez Hills Young Scholar Program will offer high school juniors and seniors and community college students with a B average or better an opportunity to earn up to 9 units of college credit by enrolling in one, two or three distance learning courses broadcast on cable television and the Internet for $3.50. The classes available are SOC 101: The Individual in Society, THE 100: Introduction to Television, Film and Theatre, and MUS 101: Introducing Music. Annual Violet Richardson Award
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley has launched its annual program targeted to young women who make the community and the world a better place. The Violet Richardson Award honors young women between the ages of 14 to 17, for volunteer action such as fighting drugs, crime, and violence; environmental issues, tolerance and discrimination, and poverty. Volunteer projects may assist any group including the elderly, disabled, and mentally or emotionally challenged groups.
Awards:
First $2,000
Second $1,500
Third $1,000
Deadline: January 15, 2008
Awards criteria: Young women who are caring, compassionate, creative and committed
Girls who demonstrate initiative in both identifying a problem and trying to solve it
Girls who have had significant and noteworthy accomplishments as a volunteer
Requirements: Applicants must be young women between the ages of 14 to 17 and
must be engaged in a volunteer activity.
Employees and immediate family of Soroptimist International are ineligible. Previous winners are also not eligible to win this award.

2008 Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session (LDZ): Sophomores-Juniors
National Hispanic Institute (NHI) announces the opportunity to attend the Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session, which includes intensive, transformational leadership experiences.

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships
As the nation’s leading education-loan guarantor, USA Funds works to promote access to higher education for all deserving students.
Award: $1,500 Renewable each year until students complete their final degrees or until the total amount awarded each student reaches $6,000, whichever comes first, as long as the student remains continuously enrolled and maintains a 2.5 grade-point average.
Submission dates: December 15, 2007- February 15, 2008

Requirements: Students who plan to enroll in qualified postsecondary-education programs, full-time or half-time undergraduates, or full-time graduate and professional students. Up to 50% of the scholarships will be targeted to students who, in addition to demonstrating financial need, are members of an ethnic-minority group or are physically disabled. Snow Orthodontics Scholarships
Award: 10 $500 scholarships
Requirements: Must be a graduating senior planning to enter the health field and have a GPA of 3.3 or better. Must turn in an application, proof of GPA, 500 word essay, and senior photo. Visit the counseling office for an application and for details.

Suffolk University: Boston

Park Scholar Awards: Ithaca College
Award: 20 merit-based scholarships each covering the cost of attendance

For students interested in engineering, math and science, or technology-related business
