Français II

Class Description:The French program at Saugus High School seeks to help each student attain proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing the French language.  These skills are presented within the context of the contemporary French-speaking world and its culture.

French II A/B is a year-long class which increases student knowledge of the French language and culture.  The textbook, Bon Voyage 2,  emphasizes practical, everyday French language in a clear and interesting format.  Students will also be using 2 workbooks which will provide further practice as well as offering enrichment activities for the motivated learner.

From Me...
I am nearly always in my room before and after school.  Students needing help may arrange to meet me for help.  My goal is to help all students to succeed in their study of French.

Internet Sorce: The publisher of our textbooks provides many resources for students on-line.  There are games, practice quizzes and tests and other supplementary materials available at: http://www.glencoe.com/sec/worldlanguages/french/bonvoyagelevel2/index.html.  These will be helpful to all students, especially in reviewing before tests or quizzes.  For those students without access to computers at home there are 3 computers in the classroom which they may use before school, at lunch or after school.

Re-taking tests and quizzes: In order to encourage mastery of the subject students will be required to keep a section of their notebook making note of all mistakes from tests and quizzes.  A student wishing to retake a test or quiz - for the new grade - must turn in to me each of the errors from a given test or quiz with the corrections written out 5 times each within 2 days of the return of the exam.  That student may then make arrangements with me to take a make-up test/quiz outside of class time. This is usually done on Wednesdays at lunch. This make-up exam will cover the same materials but in a different form.  The second grade will be entered into the rollbook in the place of the original.  A student may retake a test or quiz more than once, but will be required to do review work on a classroom computer - outside of class time - after the first re-take. There is also an intervention class taught Tuesdays after school. Students needing extra help must be signed up by a parent or guardian. The class will help reveiw ans reinforce materials covered in French II.
