SECTIONALS
All students are required to
attend weekly sectionals. This is a vital and mandatory
part of the Concert Choir. A portion of the semester
grade includes sectional attendance. The sectionals are
designed each semester to help each group attend the
sectional and to be able to participate in other
activities such as Drama, Band and Sports. The students
in each decided the following sectional times as most
appropriate for their schedules:
Sopranos: Monday at Lunch
Altos: ---at Lunch
Tenors: --- at Lunch
Basses: --- at Lunch
We have also added this year Tuesday Night Rehearsals
once a month.
I would prefer that all
sectionals were held after school, but this conflict
would not allow students to participate in ANY after
school activities. This is our best solution. The
students are asked to eat lunch at brunch on their
sectional day and need to report to the classroom when
the bell rings.
CONCERTS
Concert Choir members have an
extensive performance schedule and are required to be at
all performances. One of Concert Choir's primary goals
is to serve the community of Santa Clarita. They need to
be able to perform when requested provided they are
given a reasonable amount of lead-time to clear their
calendars (obtain time off work, reschedule lessons,
delay arrival at parties and family events, etc).
Because concert requests come up during the semester I
cannot predict all them at the beginning of the school
year. Both students and parents need to be flexible
regarding this issue. Parents need to assist students
when necessary to ensure students can attend the
concerts. The most updated concert schedule will be
given to students at the beginning of each month. The
schedule will also be e-mailed to parents and students
who have given us their e-mail.
UNIFORMS
*This year Concert Choir has
wonderful new polo shirts! They each cost $24.00.
Each student has received their shirt, so please turn in
your payment
*Concert Choir Men have
tuxedo coats and pants provided to them. The yearly
rental charge is $40.00 and is due now. Please make
checks payable to Saugus High ASB. Cash is also
accepted.
*The tuxedos need to be cleaned
at the end of each semester at the very least. A charge
will be assessed if students do not have them cleaned. A
levy of $100.00 will be placed on the account for those
tuxedos that have not yet been returned from last
Spring. The fine will be lifted when the tuxedo is
brought to school to be checked by our new wardrobe
clerk. Parents need to do the simple tux alterations
unless they are unable to. Please call if there is a
question or concern. Mostly pants and coat cuffs need to
be hemmed, buttons need to be moved, or a missing button
needs to be sewn on.
*Men need to purchase their own
white tux shirt, black bow tie, black dress socks and
black dress shoes. These items can be found at the
goodwill if money is an issue. Also, fundraising is
provided throughout the year to help with uniform costs.
* Men are to be fitted (or
re-fitted) Mark Lynn is your
wardrobe person.
Concert Choir Women
need to purchase the black performance dress. The cost
for a new one is $100.00 and is due now. Please bring
cash or a check made payable to Saugus High ASB. Some
used dresses are available for purchase. The cost for a
used dress is prorated based upon the condition of the
dress. If you fit into a used dress we will prorate the
cost.
*$5.00 is due now for pearls.
*Women need to have black dress
shoes. They need to be a low-heeled pump (less than 2")
or a flat shoe- no sandals, no open-toed shoes, no
open-heeled shoes, no platforms.
