Jazz Choir

Jazz Choir was originally started a few years ago by students who voluntarily came in at 7:00 a.m. every day so that they could sing jazz. Eventually, the students and Ms. Dooley persuaded the school to make their ensemble an official class.

Since then, Jazz has grown to include over 50 singers and 2 student instrumentalists that work with the choir daily.

Last year, the SHS Jazz Ensemble performed/competed at the Riverside Community College, Disneyland, and the Fullerton College Jazz Festival. After watching small jazz groups perform at Fullerton last year, some of the Jazz students were able to work with Ms. Dooley to create a Small Jazz Ensemble, which will eventually be made up of 10-15 members.

Although this group is still being formed, many of the students are extremely excited about the chance to work with a smaller group of singers, and possibly compete throughout the year.
