American Literature

Course Description

In this course, students will explore the fascinating world of American Literature. Through lecture, discussion, and readings, students will discover the changing patterns of American thought. Students will encounter new authors and perhaps get reacquainted with some that they have previously read. They will continue to develop their communication skills and to build their vocabulary. Students will be engaged in the material through the Common Core State Standards framework, which will focus on close readings of texts, argumentation strategies and practice, and Socratic discussions.

*Civil War Fact Find was collected.
*You got a Huck Finn study guide. Make sure you put your name on it. Look through to see what it contains. For the section notes, choose only 2-3 items from the Note Taking Guide and stick with those for each section. Don't feel the need to take notes on everything that is contained within the guide.
*You got the Section 1 notes page
*You read chapters 1 and 2 of Huck Finn and began taking notes.
*Vocab List #1 is due on Thursday...vocab squares for list 1, you will have a quiz
