AP Calculus BC is a college level calculus course. It is equivalent to two quarters or semesters of college level Calculus. Students will study the limit concept and develop the theory and skills of the derivatives and integrals. Curve sketching, extreme value problems, areas and volume problems are also covered topics. A major emphasis is placed on problem solving. A graphing calculator is used extensively. Included also is a study of series, polar and parametric equations. This course requires at least an hour of outside work each day: a demanding schedule, but one equivalent to that of a college freshman. Students who pass the AP examination could earn college credit for this course. This course material is equivalent to Calculus I and II at the college level. UC Approved
