Course Description

Dear Student and Parents: Career Seminar is a semester length class. Freshman Seminar provides a forum for students to discuss, explore and understand the vast career choices available to them. The course is designed to help students develop their interest in careers and to make connections between where they are now and where they plan to be in the future. This course creates the optimum opportunity for students to properly decide which cluster and pathway might be right for their future and provides them with detailed job descriptions, educational requirements, salary information, interviews with industry professionals and more. This course is aimed at providing students with the focus and preparation needed for a successful transition from high school to postsecondary studies, trainings and future career success. Students will leave the class with a better understanding of themselves and who they will become in the future. Culminating Project: The main project of the class will be a group interview (required video) combined with a powerpoint presentation of someone in a career of interest to the students (Mr. Berns will assign the groups).
