Saugus HS events and information: Week of September 16th - September 20th, 2019
Thursday, September 19th is a District Wide Minimum Day.
The annual Hart District College and Career Fair will be taking place on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at West Ranch High School. The fair is open to all students and parents in the Hart District. There will be over 130 college representatives in the West Ranch gym, and they will be joined by a wide variety of career pathways in a career exposition in various classrooms throughout the campus. School Photo Re-Take Day with Lifetouch will be on Wednesday, September 18th. If you need order forms, they are available at the front desk. The photos will be taken in the Q-core between 7:30 am - 1:00 pm. No appointment necessary. The main Q-core entrance will be open with a Lifetouch sign on it.
The REACH Program will host the following college visits during 2nd period. If your Junior or Senior student is interested in hearing a guest speaker from these colleges, please see Mrs. Hilstein for a permission slip. They can be picked up during lunchtime in Q 1715. Spots are limited. September 20-Cal Baptist University. October 11-Syracuse.
Is your student interested in applying for one of the United States military academies? If so, they are invited to attend the Service Academy Night hosted by Congresswoman Katie Hill. The meetings will be taking place on September 18 in Moorpark. If you and your students are interested in attending, please have them come to the counseling office for further details.
PSAT Final Week of Sales are at the ASB Office. In order to register for the PSAT, students simply need to go to the ASB office, and pay a $25 dollar fee for the test. The ASB office can accept cash, card or Apple Pay for payment. The date for the PSAT will be on Wednesday, October 16 in the Saugus High School gym. We are asking students to check in for the test at 6:45 AM, in order for the proctors to start the test at 7:00 AM. The test lasts between three to four hours in total, and students will be released back to class at the conclusion of the test. Once all students have registered for the PSAT, further information will be sent out about what to bring to the test.
Evening of remembrance will be at the Youth Grove on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:45 pm. Join the City of Santa Clarita as they remember the Santa Clarita Valley Youth who have lost their lives in traffic-related incidents and raise awareness about the importance of safe and responsible driving. Dress Code: Saugus High School believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. Please go over the attached files to know the expectations of the administration. Any student that is in violation of the dress code will be given consequences. Student Organizers: The first progress report ended on Friday, September 13th. Students should be recording all assignments on their weekly calendars and completing weekly grade checks on the charts provided. There is also an academic grade check form that can be done with you student to make sure they have stayed in the grade range slated at the start of the semester.
Show you care and donate a bear: or any new stuffed animal for our annual collection to benefit children admitted to Henry Mayo Hospital’s emergency room. Please drop off donations to the teddy bear barrel in the attendance office. Teddy Bears will be collected until September 30th. Program sponsored by Career Visions at Saugus High School.
Yearbook: Don't forget to also purchase a yearbook at the early bird price of just $65 or $60 with an ASB card before prices increase in October. Yearbooks can be purchased online at yearbookforever.com or in the ASB office with cash or credit card.
Boys Soccer Tryouts will be held at Central Park and will begin on Tuesday, September 10th and run until Thursday, September 19th.
Returning players will tryout from 2:15-3:15 PM and new players will tryout from 3:15-4:30 PM.
Boys and Girls Swim Team Tryouts: Thursday 10/3 @ Santa Clarita Aquatics Center (SCAC) from 4-5 PM.
Track & Field Tryouts: November 12-15 for off-season athletes in Coach Russel's 7th period track class, and November 18-21 after school (3:04 PM) for all other Saugus students.
Softball is having a restaurant night at Wicked Chicken on Monday, 9/16.
Girls Volleyball will have Kona Ice at 4:00 pm on Thursday 9/19 by the gym.

AcDec and Patron of the Arts will be selling the World's Finest Chocolate starting on Monday, September 16th.
Save the Date:
UCLA Blood Drive will be on Tuesday, September 24th from 7:45 am - 12:45 pm. Parents and community members are invited to take part in this life saving blood drive. If your student would like to participate, please have them reserve a spot by completing the parent permission slip available at the front desk and return it by Friday, 9/20 to ASB or the front desk.
