Saugus HS events and information: Week of March 18th - March 22nd, 2019

 

Open House is this Thursday, March 21st. The program will begin at 5:30 pm for incoming Freshman and 6:00 pm for 9th-12th graders. Classrooms will be open and you will have time to meet your students teachers and see their classrooms.

 

The Centurion Foundation will have its annual Silent Auction in the gym during the Open House event. Please come by and see the many baskets that will raise funds for sports, academic and extracurricular teams and clubs.

 

Thursday, March 21st is a minimum day. Please check the SHS website for the minimum day bell schedule.

 

The Junior/Senior Prom 2019: “Bright Lights, Big City” will be held at the LA Center Studios on Saturday evening, April 27th. The Prom Packet will be available starting Monday in the ASB office. Tickets will be on sale March 18th-March 22nd for $135 w/ASB and $140 w/o ASB. Prices will go up on March 25th, so buy early.  All detailed information regarding buses, promenade, food, pictures, and attire are in the Prom packet. Please read this packet carefully.

 

Summer school applications are now available on the William S Hart website and in the counseling office.  Please see your counselor to sign up ASAP.

 

The Theater Showcase will be Wednesday, March 20th at 7:00 pm in the Forum. Tickets are available at the door and in advance at the ASB store.

 

Attention parents of Seniors: Your Graduation Announcement orders are here for your pickup on Wednesday, March 20th during brunch & lunch at the outdoor stage. If you have a balance due, it must be paid on this day, CASH ONLY will be accepted.  Please be on time to pick up your announcements to avoid shipping fees!  If you still need Graduation memorabilia visit www.jostens.com to place your order!

 

Have your student become a part of the Yearbook: Sword and Shield applications are available at the front desk and in Mr. Thomas classroom H801. The applications are due by March 29th in H801.

 

Save the date/upcoming events:

 

College of the Canyons will be on campus March 20th to kick off their Canyons Advantage Program, for current Seniors planning to attend COC in the Fall. This is a 2-step opportunity. Wed., March 20th, students can swing by the MPR anytime between Lunch until 3:30pm, for help in completing their online application. Tues., March 26th, field trip forms will be due in the counseling office. Thurs., March 28th is the COC campus visit. COC will provide 2 buses to the college to assist students in completing the rest of their application steps.  Seniors who participate in CAP will also earn an early registration date for Fall and be ready to apply to the First-Year Promise Program when it opens on April 1. See the counseling office for more information and to pick up a field trip form.

*You can still attend the field trip if you did not attend the application workshop.  All students must complete the online application by March 26th. to attend attend the field trip to COC. Students must bring their unofficial transcripts and a photo id. when attending the field trip.

 

COC’s First-Year Promise Program, gives qualified incoming students the opportunity to attend College of the Canyons tuition-and fee-free for their first Fall and Spring semesters.  The program is exclusively for first-time, full-time enrolled freshmen who have been accepted into the First-Year Promise Program. Scholarship information is available in the Counseling office. Please encourage your Senior student to pick up the applications.

Pennies for Patients: It is that time of year again! Next week, our annual PENNIES FOR PATIENTS drive will begin. It will run from March 11th through the 29th. The money we raise will be going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support cancer research. The classrooms that collect the most money during the first two weeks will be brought donuts for their efforts and the overall winning classroom receives a free lunch from Olive Garden.  JOIN THE HERO SQUAD, and thank you in advance for your support!

 

3/19 Swim Team is having a restaurant fundraiser night at The Habit.

 

3/22 Common Cents is having a restaurant Fundraiser at Panda Express at the Bouquet Canyon Location. Please bring the flyer which is available at the front desk.
