The William S. Hart Union High School District will be hosting its 8th Annual College & Career Fair on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Golden Valley High School, from 5:00 to 8:30 pm. An estimated 3,000 high school students and parents are expected to attend. Last year, attendees packed the event eager to learn about career and post-secondary education options. Over 110 colleges and universities from across the country, career technical schools, military branches, and career pathways will be represented in an exhibit-style format to answer questions.  Additionally, there will be workshops available on financial aid and out of state college opportunities. All seniors planning to apply to a California State University campus (CSU) are invited to attend the CSU application workshop, taking place on Tuesday, September 18th. To register and get a permission slip, please sign up in the counseling office. The workshop will teach you how to complete the online application for the CSU system.

Lifetouch will be coming to do make-up photos on Tuesday, September 26, in the Q Core from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Any 9th to 11th grade students who did not have a picture taken during registration must have their picture taken on September 26 to receive an ID and be pictured in the upcoming yearbook.

Turtles and Toucans? Our Spanish Language teacher Mrs. Fulkerson is leading an adventure trip to Costa Rica this Summer from June 17th - June 25. For more details, please have your student go to room M1307to meet with Mrs. Fulkerson during brunch or lunch.

This Week in Saugus Sports:


Tryouts for the Boys Lacrosse team are scheduled for Saturday, Sept 15th  1:00pm-4:00pm, and Saturday, Sept 22nd 8:00am-11:00am on the upper fields @ Saugus High School. This will be a NO contact tryout so as to minimize the risk of injuries. All prospective athletes are invited to tryout.


The Financial Aid Night will be taking place at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 25 in the MPR. Students and parents of all grades are invited to attend, but especially 12th grade families need to know this very important information. The presentation will cover how to apply for financial aid with state, federal and campus loans, grants and work study. Other topics include Cal Grant applications, the differences between subsidized and unsubsidized loans, how to read a financial aid statement, important deadlines and online resources for the financial aid process.


Attention Sophomores and Juniors! You can now register to take the PSAT, which is the practice SAT exam. The PSAT will prepare you to score well on the SAT, which is the mandatory college admissions examination. The PSAT will be given on October 10. The cost of the exam is 22 dollars, and you can pay in the ASB office. There is a limited number of exams, so sign up now to secure a spot!

Upcoming events: 

The UCLA Blood Drive is coming up on Tuesday, 9/25. Parents are welcome to donate as well.

Boys Lacrosse will host its second annual Corn Hole Tournament on Saturday, September 22nd, details are available on the Saugus website.
