Greetings Centurions!

Saugus HS events and information: Week of March 9th - March 13th.

 

A Note From Mr. Ferry - “I want to make you all aware of a few calendar changes for March and April. March 20th and April 17th will be minimum days. I will be using these days for professional development training to help address some new needs of students and staff, and I hope these additional minimum days provide students even a small opportunity to recharge a bit.”

 

EVENTS & NEWS

 

The Museum of Tolerance field trip for Sophomores will be held on Monday, March 16th  and Tuesday, March 17th.

Students must bring ID cards everyday!

 

Yearbooks are still for sale in the ASB office and online at yearbookforever.com for $85 until Spring break.

 

Seniors can get a head start enrolling in college at COC.  They can get their assessments and advisement done all in one place, plus they can sign up for Canyons Promise and attend a workshop to create their fall schedule and educational plan.  They can sign up and get their permission slip in the Counseling Office. Permission slips are due by Tuesday, March 17th. NO LATE PERMISSION SLIPS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 3/17. Students can visit our COC Rep in the Library alcove every Tuesday from 8:30am – 1:00pm.  Students can also drop in to Canyons Hall on the COC Valencia campus every Wednesday in March from 12-5pm for help with their application.  Senior College of the Canyons Field trip: 8am -Noon, Monday, March 23rd.

 

Mid-Week Meditation (Sarah Soltani & Courtney Sherlock)  Starting March 4th, the Serenity Space (wellness center) will be hosting Mid-Week Meditation from 9-9:30am. This is a chance to practice slowing things down to focus on our thoughts, breathing, and light stretching. This will run at the same time/place until spring break. We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat as there's a limited supply available.

 

Sparks BC2M Campaign Week - Thrive Together club will be sparking conversation, hope, love, courage, and action regarding mental health. Join us for a week-long event. 

 

Dog & Goat Therapy - Come during lunch to take a break with some furry friends! Goats on March 16th only

 

MILITARY INFO NIGHT will be Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00pm in the Library. Students will be able to ask questions to all branches of our prestigious military such as, questions about enlistment, education, and advancement opportunities.  Students who are interested in pursuing a career in military service are invited, with their parents, to learn more about the various paths to service. Please have students come by the counseling office to sign up.

 

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test (ASVAB) will be offered Thursday, March 12 at 12:30pm in the S Lecture Hall. The results are used to determine qualifications and help the military assign new recruits into career fields. Please have students come in to sign up for this test in the counseling office. 

 

Please encourage students to check the lost and found for misplaced items.

 

FUNDRAISERS

 

From Mr Ferry: “The beanbag has been thrown! I am looking for parents to participate in the Great Saugus High School Cornhole Challenge! This year, I have asked the Centurion Foundation to organize a fun fundraiser that will serve as a way to bring our community together. All money raised from the fundraiser will go directly back into the classroom and programs. You can sign-up by clicking on the link below. I look forward to seeing you there. Saugus Choir is selling tickets for $20 each to the Angels game on Friday, April 24th.  Choir students from all over Southern California, including our very own Saugus Choir, will perform together as a mass choir rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.  Tickets will be on sale until March 31.
